@arstechnica It's almost enough to make one wonder if the strange delay from the company that basically bought support from McDonalds rather than compete openly is because they need time to reverse engineer the competitor they're trying to stamp out rather than truly make their own. It's enough to make one wonder anyway.
Either way, this whole mess definitely is a good reminder of how bad closed systems that don't allow third parties to repair truly can be -- even for businesses.
@arstechnica trouble for Middleby Taylor and McDonald’s if this goes to jury trial. McDonald’s customers know from experience that at least the soft serve machines do not work in a high percentage of situations, one in five, for whatever reason.
If Ray Kroc were alive this never would have gotten this far. The franchise was built on ice cream devices, regardless of its importance to the chain now.
