     they got a bunch of crap answers so i will just mention that your state (america yeehaw but probably a lot of other countries do this as well) likely has a tourism board that will send you state maps for free (road, etc)

     natgeomaps.com has quad/topographical/trail maps you can print out or purchase for your area
