Ford will cut F-150 Lightning production in half in light of weaker demand
Perhaps setting expectations of a $40,000 electric truck was a mistake.

@arstechnica It was not just a mistake, it was a fantasy on the part of Ford management: Promise a price the company couldn't afford, and production numbers it couldn't possibly deliver, in the hopes that the vehicles would magically appear through sheer force of will.
@arstechnica Who was this for? The people who drive such trucks DGAF about electric and the people who care about electric don't drive trucks. This feels like an intentional failure to drive "people don't want EVs" propaganda.
@arstechnica I have a gas guzzling pickup from a past life, but am in the market to sell it and get the most efficient EV for a commute as possible. They are almost mutually exclusive purposes for the average buyer. I'm not ever going to run my house off the battery, but I's love to have a Focus-sized 2-door that I plug in at night.
@arstechnica
I agree, who the hell can afford a truck priced $80K to $90K, WTF were they thinking
@arstechnica It will be interesting to see how the Ramcharger does in 2025. Overpriced, I am sure but gas/hybrid seems the best option before we go fully electric.
@arstechnica that’s too bad, the F-150 looks like a fantastic electric truck option. I’d seriously consider one if I was in the market for a new truck (I’m more of a car guy, and have never ever owned a new car).
