Narbray (narbray@varishangout.net)'s status on Sunday, 10-Dec-2023 13:20:51 JST Narbray Kadokawa announced that it will expand the free-to-use license for the "Jashin-chan Dropkick" anime franchise on YouTube. Until this announcement, the license only covered the third season of the series, but now the entire franchise is included.
This means that segments from seasons one through three, with a length limit of up to ten minutes per episode, can be shared on YouTube. However, the OVA "Jashin-chan Dropkick "Seikimatsu-hen" (Dropkick on My Devil!!!: End of Century Edition)", which will be released on December 27 in Japan, can be used in its entirety.
If the terms of use are respected, the segments can even be monetized on YouTube, Niconico and other platforms, either for summary or explanatory purposes, or even just for fun.
In addition, in an unusual initiative, the OVA "Jashin-chan Dropkick "Seikimatsu-hen" will be sold online prior to its television premiere in Japan. Upon purchase, the user will be able to start sharing "derivative works" (i.e. screenshots of the episode, memes, etc.) right after the TV broadcast starts.
The production explained this decision on Twitter,
>"This will also encourage work by harnessing the power of those who live stream without screen time and those who earn advertising revenue through illegal uploads. The production committee of "Jashin-chan Dropkick" doesn't care how they get the video. However, follow the sales platform's rules on how to acquire the series and read the rules on how far you can use it in your videos," denoting that this is all an effort to embrace as much publicity as possible.
