@coldacid @djsumdog @kirby @jeff @Moon @coolboymew So do you know about the whole fallacy with AWD cars and how it lulls people into car crashes because they think "oh it's AWD I can drive through anything" and end up driving risky and crashing?
It's the same mindset with people on Bluesky right now, and just a few weeks ago I saw some SUV with "4x4" written on some decal on it crashed in a rain storm (I think it was one of the Chevy Blazer/TrailBlazer reskins, or similar truck platform SUVs so it was RWD at that moment).

AWD cars can drive through anything! I can't tell you how many times I was glad to have my WRX in snow and ice storms as people all around me were stuck spinning in snow. (and 4x4 vs AWD are different .. I do own one of each 😅) ... but I get what you're saying.
I think a better analogy are all the modern safety features: blind spot alerts, lane departure beeps, emergency auto-breaks, adaptive cruise control ... too many people browse their phones while driving and depend on all that crap .. which makes me think we'll see way more wrecks in 10 years when all the sensors start failing.
People should just assume everything the post is public .. but I also don't think a lot of people are ready for distributed social networks. Most people have no fucking clue how e-mail or websites work.

It's a bit of an issue. Back then people actually used to have to configure their email app correctly one way or another, now they just use the provider's app
Back then, shitload of personal websites, and even with a simplified panel, it still taught you how shit works, at least, on a basic level. Now nobody does that

As a kid, I was like 10-12 years old, there was this old ecard website called Dromadaire.com (it still exists. It means Camel), and they offered free hosting with a free 10mb or something
Their panel was so ungodly simply that I basically learned on the fly, I'm sure I didn't even read help pages. That I had to have a basic editor (they were dime a dozen back then), call my main page index.html and etc
