A short while ago, I posted something about the woman who tried to burn MLK's birthplace having a mental health crisis. Some self-righteous pest confronted me with a comment about how I was turning a crime into a threnody about racism. Here is the updated story:
I'm getting really annoyed with self-appointed tone police showing up and accusing me of complaining TOO MUCH about racism. I reserve the right to complain about unfairness.

@thepoliticalcat Yep systematic racism is the real problem. Of course it comes with racists getting too much power, so the problem still stems from “ordinary” racism, but racism is so widespread that the real solution is fixing the laws so that personal animosity against other races cannot be turned into political will. I always told people that Hitler’s racism is actually pretty banal and the real reason he was able to do what he did was because he was given the power to do so.

@rakyat Nice piece. But the thing about racism is, it's not the label to apply for people who do not like other people because of their race. It is applied to people who have a system that enforces a preference for one race over another. I might hate Chinese people or Indian people or Malay people, but at most, all I can do to them is personally assault them or convince my friends to join me. These people control ALL our lives.

@thepoliticalcat When I first joined the fediverse I learnt that the instance I initially joined prohibits discussion of racism because apparently, talking about racism that minorities face is racist.
Equating minorities complaining about bad treatment from majority race with the majority race systematically oppressing minorities is something I’ve seen majorities pull over and over again, even among those who profess to be liberals.
