@shanen Hi! Some developers have Patreon accounts (or similar) so that you can support them individually. This page also shows developers that you can fund, but yes, it's not super user-friendly: https://www.documentfoundation.org/gethelp/developers/ – What do you think?
I don't have the motivation and skills to contribute that way, but I do have a little money. Why can't I donate to support some of those projects so those skilled people don't have to donate free time, but can be paid for their valuable work?
As I imagine this option (under the #CSB tag), my reward would only be a mention on the page of donors who supported that feature. Yeah, I would get to use the results, too, but so would everyone else.
I may not understand Patreon well enough, but I think the idea of blanket payment for ongoing work is too hard to track. It also attracts gold rushers trying to strike it rich.
My idea of the #CSB is to pay for the work that is done. Each project should be sized as accurately as possible (with the help of the CSB) and the developers would be agreeing to do a certain amount of work for a certain amount of pay. (The CSB would also help assess the results of the projects.)
