When it comes to recycling and rebranding old chips, no one's hands are clean.
@arstechnica Unfortunately, this type of thing has been going on pretty much forever. For me the worst one was when nVidia decided to name the smaller revision of the Geforce 2 MX "Geforce 4 MX," which confused a lot of people when they literally couldn't even run many games because they required shaders (which the Geforce 2 couldn't do.) Then it wasn't just minor core generation differences, but actual compatibility.
It is an awful practice and no one should do it.
