   the funniest thing about the arbitrary mass hatred towards all journalists on here is you'll go look at an account that is doing it and they're all going off on their various beefs and presenting facts about them, with links, all of which of course wouldn't have been possible WITHOUT A JOURNALIST.

     @Hyolobrika @logoninternet care less about things that don't affect you and do research on things that do. One problem with journalists is that they have a tendency to sensationalize and politicize issues to make them seem more important. I mean, if they didn't have important shit to tell you no one would give them money so this is expected, but it does a good bit of harm to society when their sensational interpretation of events doesn't align neatly with some form of reality. Another problem is that at least in the modern era most of their money comes from advertisers not information consumers. This leads to advertising being camouflaged into news itself or news about one of their sponsors to be manipulated or ignored.

     Is it that questionable? I personally haven't seen much that journalists have done wrong.
     I have heard of various incidents, but they don't seem endemic.

     @Hyolobrika @logoninternet I do not feel like I NEED to know about wars halfway around the world. I think war news is some of the most propaganda laden content you can find. The only thing worth watching is the gore and that's not reported without plenty of censorship and a good political reason to do so.

     For some topics it's possible to do your own research, such as tech news.
     But others, such as wars, it's much harder. I guess if you know people who live near the event, you could ask them about it. But they probably have enough on their plate just surviving to talk to outsiders about it.

     @Hyolobrika @logoninternet @thatguyoverthere it isn't possible to eliminate anyway. it's emergent. people gossip, write letters to one another, post to social media, at some point someone requests money in order to do so. the existence of journalists is the result of some sort of natural law or something

     @Hyolobrika @logoninternet Because the journalism still has an impact on those around me who can't see how unimportant to their lives stuff reported in main stream outlets is. The politicization of events and propagandizing of the masses changes public perception and creates divisions that do affect my life.
