   @malteengeler @emilymbender Someone needs tell the “journalists” it is unethical to report True Positive rate of an algorithm and not report the False Positive rate as well. The man-made tuning of algorithms is always at the heart of fake-ass AI or “breakthroughs” and we have long had “scoring” systems for evaluations, that de-hype things pretty quickly. However, the tarded public and the tarded journalists enjoy the scifi lies. We’d never have had Theranos if journalists DEMANDED the TP/FP rate of her “tests”. We’d never had the magic censoring algorithms on Twitter if we demanded TP/FP rates. We have to grow up.

     "What is AI? It is a marketing term. It's a way to make automation sound magical. As such it is a way to dodge accountability by making machines sound like autonomous entities rather than tools created by people and companies. Discussion about this technology becomes much clearer when we replace "AI" with "automation" and ask: What is automated? Who is automating? Who is profiting and who is harmed?"
