   Corporations embracing fake people and fake intelligence is just another symptom of a system that exists to exploit people, instead of serving them. We’re useful only long as we’re necessary for the functioning of that system and we’re otherwise expendable. In creating the corporate form, we’ve created a new species – one that has dislodged us from the top of the food chain.

     @aral I was thinking about Google and YouTube's current war on adblockers - and your post resonates with my thoughts.

     An adblocker is a very clear sign that the person on the other side does not want ads. I feel there are 3 ways to respond:
     1. respect that and ask them to reconsider;
     2. respect that, but don't provide content;
     3. not respect that.

     Youtube is currently going all-in on option 3.

     @hjonker And they have to. It’s detrimental to their toxic, surveillance-based business model.

     @mothmoose Yes and no. What’s different is the scale (and potential for harm) afforded by the amplifying effect of modern technology.
