The new Classic mode in F-Zero 99 is fun, and I like how its meta is completely different from the other game modes, but I wish it wasn't in 4:3, *especially* with the ugly purple borders Ninty used

@eSheep Oh?

@coolboymew Ninty added a new Classic mode to F-Zero 99. It joins the special mode rotation alongside the other special modes.
It's 20 racers, 4 laps, 1 boost unlocked per lap, no spins and no skyways. The track layouts are also closer to the originals: longer and less wide.
It really favors the Blue Falcon and Fire Stingray since you're not boosting non-stop or playing pinball racking up golden orbs like the main modes.
This mode also runs in 4:3, which is a shame because I love how crisp the game looks in 16:9. Just like a cleaner, more HD SNES game.
Worst of all though they have a purple checkerboard pattern on the side which I find a bit ugly and distracting, I wish you could at least set it to pure black or something.

@eSheep thanks

@coolboymew They also reduced the draw distance to make it even more like SNES F-Zero.
I kinda came around to the 4:3 aspect ratio, it gives a better sense of speed than 16:9. Purple checkerboard borders are still bad though.
