     @Meemoo With being a cowboy, I'd probably end up being on the run from the law all the time, and with being a pirate, the above point AND I have to deal with the unpleasantness that comes with being a pirate. Neither are really good environments for raising a family.

     @Ronnie21093 @Meemoo Truth be told most cowboys were ranchers. The whole reason they existed was to drive cattle from their ranches to towns that had trains to sell for profit.

     I guess it depends on which era of the samurai you're looking for.
     Because at some point they were mostly used for hunting due to lack of external enemies
