   My state is planning on suing social media companies due to the harm they "knowingly cause children."

   Here's a crazy idea: don't let your kids use social media! Or heavily limit their use of it!

     @beardalaxy no dice, as kids are damn good at bypassing bans like these

     plus there aren't really kid and teen places anymore on the internet like there used to be, so they are forced to use mainline social media

     @matana obviously you have to do things in moderation and not hover over them and take away all of their privacy because they still deserve some too. But education first and foremost is good. For my kids it'll probably be something like using KeePass so I have access to their passwords, requiring a password to get on the computer that's in the living room, and not giving them a smartphone at age 12 that they can do whatever the fuck on. Will they get around blocks and use stuff at their friends houses? Yeah, probably, but that's what proper education is for, including internet privacy and security :)
