remember frens, nominate COAL for the steam game of the year just to piss off the normals
-
@sapphire The devs I'm talking about make games because they want to, it has nothing to do with public interest.
-
@Nesano no, I think when people’s interest goes away, the people who make games because they’re interested in games will go away, for obvious reasons
AAA devs are all owned by non gaming companies now, Microsoft will continue to shit out call of duty and Skyrim long past the death of the industry.
-
@Nesano indies don’t need funding, they need attention, and that’s gonna dry up first, why else would the industry crash
-
@sapphire Yeah, so indie games' competition going away wouldn't help or anything. You actually think in a time where video games are designed to be addicting people will just stop playing them after AAA titles go away?
-
@sapphire So the crash would cause people that make games almost entirely on their own without any need for funding of any kind would die out first? Are you retarded?
-
@Nesano I don't think so. I think if we see an industry crash, the first players to die out will be the indies, then the major players. When we see a resurgence, it'll be new major players, then indies returning.
Remember, in 1983 the first company to spring back was Nintendo, who was already an absolute powerhouse in Japan and the only reason they came back was because Americans knew them from arcades. When an entire industry collapses, the first company you're going to trust isn't going to be Dick and Lickers making 8 bit knockoffs, its going to be a company you already trust.
-
@Nesano same, and there's literally zero good games that came out this year imo so it gets my vote
-
@sapphire And, I shit you not, a non-zero amount of retarded niggers on the Internet have mocked me for saying a rise in indie games would be a good thing to come out of a crash.
-
@sapphire I don't care about this game, but I've seen samples of fags getting butthurt by it.
