I was watching Anime before it was mainstream. I paid ridiculous amounts of money to own a VHS cassette with 2 episodes on it, I read the subtitles, I had to hunt down new video store locations just to see if they carried something the others did not.

I put in my fucking time, I am too old and too tired to read a bunch of fucking words and listen to a bunch of people scream every other line, or pray nobody walks in at a point where some female is mildly upset but sounds like she is being fucking raped.

If I'm gonna put up with cringe, it's gonna be in my native language so I can at least multitask other things on another screen.

  People shit on subs all the time, you just refuse to accept legitimate criticisms of why they are not always ideal.
  
  I have never, and will never defend dubs or the state of the dubbing industry. Dubbing died after the OVA craze when they stopped trying to find people with actual good voices.
  
  Nobody has ever won this argument with me because they don't understand it's not about superior quality (and there are plenty of shitty Japanese VAs anyway) it's about convenience.
  
  There are some anime I will never watch dubbed because I was not exposed to them dubbed and I know the script well enough from sheer memory I don't even need the subtitles. But that's not the point.
  
  Modern anime is trash and it's not worth the effort of weebing out over subtitles when you are consuming trash with no artistic merit or goal other than to extract money from you.
