@supersid333 The reason Omni-man is my favorite character in the comic is because he knows for a fact that there's no way to atone for killing his friends in the Guardians, and killing thousands of people in his fight with Mark, but he still does the right thing anyways instead of falling deeper into the hole.
@Kyonko802 Don't get me wrong he killed a lot of people, but Omni-man was clearly trying to work out his true feelings all across that final fight with Marc. The fight ends with Marc battered, unable to move, and Nolan just leaves because he can't stand the emotional pain he's inflicted on himself hurting the few things he had truly come to care about during his time on Earth. He's imperfect in a very human way, trapped between a rock and a hard place, and the only real difference is he can upend buildings with a wave of his hand.
@supersid333 Omni-Man is a pretty classic tragic character. Upholding the mission of the Viltrumites, or fulfilling his heart.
It's quite interesting when you see from his perspective how his wife is really a pet. Pets you love, but ultimately they will be... well, lesser It's not a sick, twisted relationship he holds, but an acknowledgement of the difference in their biology. The tragedy is when he describes her as such to Marc, which angers him. @Kyonko802
@Cayhr@supersid333 The real tragedy is when you realize that was him lying to himself to try and make himself feel better. His entire fight with Mark was reverting back to his abusive upbringing in the viltrumite society. He cannot reconcile his love for his wife and son, and his desire to save people, with his mission.
Like all abuse victims, he falls back to what he is used to, only to realize too late how huge of a mistake that was.
@supersid333@Cayhr I also like that it does all this without spitting on superhero stories. It cranks up the violence and emotional devastation, but ultimately, Invincible, and even Omni-man, are not subversions of super heroes. It's not a series crawling up its own ass about how dumb superheroes are like The Boys is.
@Vidmastereon@supersid333 "But what do you mean that his son is the reason Nolan decides not to conquer earth?! He's clearly just an evil superman durr hurr"
@Kyonko802@supersid333 also: if you never had a father figure, you should be permanently barred from writing father characters the only thing they can write is "dad who cant adult"
@Vidmastereon@supersid333 Omni-man is legitimately the best character in the show and comic and people who put him beside cucks like Homelander piss me off
@Vidmastereon@Kyonko802@supersid333 :emoji_cope: My mom had to leave my dad almost immediately after I was born and took me and my sister with her, so I never had a father figure
@Vidmastereon@Kyonko802 It's pretty good honestly. They changed the order of events in relation to Amber's character (also made her black) which makes her come off as a really unsufferable character. That aside it's a good series and a decent enough adaptation.
@supersid333@Kyonko802@Cayhr There are some parts of the story that are pretty fucking garbage though, like shit related to Eve and her "decisions", and yet Mark still loves her. :kekw:
@Immahnoob Yeah the show is actually quite tampered with, they just kept the parts they can't get away with bastardizing in tact. @supersid333@Kyonko802
@Immahnoob@supersid333@Cayhr You mean when she fucks off the africa instead of being a superhero? Yeah that was obviously the author plugging missionary bullshit.
@Kyonko802@Cayhr@supersid333 I could just spoil shit, but I don't want to. :kekw: She does something so fucking henious in my opinion, that I don't think any man would "love" her after that, unless they're a simp and a cuck.
@Immahnoob@Cayhr@supersid333 Oh wait I remember what you''re talking about now. Yeah that was fucking stupid, but at least it wasn't Mary Jane and Paul levels of bullshit
@Kyonko802@Cayhr@supersid333 Regret it or not, it was one of the most inane choices (she's a woman, I guess) ever and it made me think that the author just wanted to put Mark through more shit. Characters are compelling and cool until they have to fuck with Mark.
Mark gets shit even for being raped in this comic book. It's a very Spiderman situation.
@Immahnoob@Cayhr@supersid333 I'm just surprised they had the guts to paint abortion in such a negative and emotionally impactful light. That's why I think the show is gonna change it. No way they'll have the guts to do that now.
My main issue with it is the plothole that she can literally use her powers to make money. The moral complexities of that go out the window when you have a mouth to feed and the father disappeared. It would have been much more interesting to see her struggling with whether or not that was the right thing to do than the abortion bullshit.
@Kyonko802@Cayhr@supersid333 >She was just lashing out. I guess that's good because it shows she's a woman after all, 4D chess from the author. :guraKekw:
