@camedei456 I'm pretty reluctant to bring it down to one thing but smartphones definitely didn't help. Another factor I'm willing to consider is that the rational time horizon has shrunk. Millennials were promised careers, houses, cars, compelling lives if we went to college, took on the student loans, and did the unpaid internships. We did those things. Then most of us didn't make it in spite of all that. Worse, we got blamed for it.
Promises broken like that combined with the associated gaslighting give youngsters cause to think that if the outcomes don't materialize fast, they're not real. Why trust when the previous generation got fucked in the ass?
