     @theorytoe yeah that's the vibe I've gotten from the fedi after 2+ years on it, years of putting it off because of the behavior of who acts as if they control the network (and the fact it had fewer people by a landslide).
     
     There's literally two parallel networks, sharing the same network, and with signed/authorized fetches it's going to be further apart. That's going to be the dividing line sooner than people think.

     The Mastodon garden will be very unattractive to newcomers and very "uncool". The name Mastodon is tainted for a lot of people, the community is hostile as shit if you're not "in" their circle, and they've managed to convince many people there is no fedi outside.
     
     As a result, something like Bluesky is their dream site for now. Sure it's buggy and broken, but someone like Joshua Connor Moon or the artist drawing heckin problematic things will get that ass banned overnight. Until they burn out on that and end up back on Twitter.

     The reason I don't care about that is simple.
     
     I never see many people using it. It doesn't have the artificial hype train bsky does.
