     This smells like the kind of thing academics reassemble, then after death you’ll ask one of the dudes who was there and he’ll tell you “nah we were marching in the summer, they found our bodies once and thought that was our fighting garb lol”

     In the year 5,000 they’d unearth this guy and say “ah, the american empire sent all its legions forward wearing very gay nuthugger shorts, it was a common battle scheme”

     @PensiveCowboy Everything in history I basically run through the “would a normal guy do this?” test. When you read their words, their grafitti, it’s apparent they were very similar to us. Therefore, the things you like - they’d like. The things you don’t, they don’t.

     heading into battle? Not something that people are comfy doing, and these dudes were civilized enough to smack metals into shape and survive the snow season.
