     @kerosene It's unclear. What are they trying to do? Is this shilling for Facebook's metaverse? (Bad idea). Or is that trying to one up Facebook and attempting to fuck Meta/Facebook out of their own idea and make it an open source project instead (Good idea)

     Yeah I don't think Facebook wants their massive investment to end with them being the new Mastodon

     @birdulon @kerosene one upping Facebook's stupid bullshit is actually surprisingly a good idea. Nip it in the bud
     
     The issue with the Metaverse is that is Facebook succeed, it will basically spawn a new Internet completely under their control
     
     The Linux Foundation is looking to do exactly what I said should happen, open sourcing everything and instead of one big corps overseeing everything, people will be able to host their own under their own rule

     This, the whole thing is full of buzzwords and no real objective that I still don't know if it's not open source projects FOR the existing metaverse
