All of the important stuff revolved around the Egyptians, the Mesopotamians, and the Hittites, with the Elamites and the Greeks more or less on the fringes. For 3000 years until the bronze age collapse, absolutely nothing is mentioned about what is now Israel aside from the general area constantly trading hands between the three major empires.
Then the collapse happens and the Hittites disappear, and as the other two empires suffer a decline, two shitty little petty kingdoms pop up in Canaan for about two hundred fifty years before being once again swallowed by their neighbors, and disappearing from history forever while the land changes hands from the Assyrians to the Persians to the Greeks and finally to the Romans.
Then a few more rebellions happen, the Romans stack bodies, and 200 years later the Romans are duped into adopting the religion of this irrelevant backwater that never had any significance, and suddenly that dusty shithole is seen as the center of world history. A point of view that is only accurate in that every major player in the bronze and early iron age owned it at one point or another.Machismo repeated this.
