@mja bruh, literally no one does anything except "secure" ripping by default now a days, this is an artifacts of the late 90s when disk drives were irredeemably shit
@jeff yeah but cds have lots of small damage atleast very easily, and the error correction is vary weak, plus drives vary wildly in quality and how much they can account for and caches and offsets and shit. so normally when you rip a cd it will have little errors, things you dont usually notice, unless your autistic like me and want to get it just right. this is where secureripping comes in, a program which while check sectors multiple times, do tricks to defeat drive caches and account for offsets, all sorts of things. most importantly, comparing to accuraterip database to make sure it came out without errors. https://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=Secure_ripping#Secure_Ripping
most audio trackers and shit will demand exactaudiocopy be used and logs provided for this exact reasons
@jeff >:( yes and i can also use k3b or ffmpeg or whatever i need quality! I'm using whipper, it's a reimplementation of exactaudiocopy's featuers in linux, so i can ensure i dont have any errors and shit
