   There’s something that bugs me about jap weebo art depicting characters growing up and having families:

   They never have sons. I know the guys making the art probably hail from a busted family situation, but it’s a bummer because it betrays the way they think about a family. They don’t want to be a father, they want to have a cute daughter the same way they look at a cute puppy and want to have one to adore and cuddle.

   They don’t want to be a parent, just a pet owner to an anime girl. There’s little recreation of self, the dad is always this guy partying with a wife and her little clones.

   Not the biggest deal but it still bugs me that even in our fantasy art guys have given into the anti-male, anti-son rhetoric without even thinking about it.

   Having a son is radical and probably the very peak of existence, retards need to understand that.

     I can't think of anything before 2008. I'd say the "father role" is usually bestowed upon a strange elder of some kind. Even that's rare these days, or the stranger is female.
     
     It's also interesting how many anime have the "I'll understand who I really am once I find my real dad" trope in them. That's like the other side of the coin for your hypothesis. You could be onto something with that.
     
     Mangaka's the niggers of Japan? No dads to bond with. Like niggerball players with less money and less sex?

     @Svantovit I wouldn’t even say it’s just the manga guys. I think jap culture has been utterly RAPED by american occupation and industrialization. They had some sort of society in the 1800’s, but they forced the peasants to join the 1st world and rapidly industrialized everything without giving their culture time to adapt naturally.

     Then they hit the wars, and to cap it all off they had an insane, even MORE drastic about-face when ZOG came in and literally re-wrote their souls like they were wiping a flash drive. I think their entire country has problems with how they see fathers, their system reeks of huge power distance and very little intimacy. Maybe that’s just the way things are supposed to be for them, but it’s depressing to me.

     Japan’s gone like, 150 years of this continuous, unnatural, forced evolution. Their soul is all lerpy and awkward because it grew up with puberty blockers or steroids from one decade to another.

     @Shadowbroker2135 There are a few pretty good stories here and there. I’ve been half-curious about the guy that writes mushoku because that story really touches on some family dynamics that you don’t even see in american media

     Normally the guys making fiction over there are too self-absorbed and NEETed to write stories w/ humanity

     @boloros @Svantovit It’s sad, because they have this interesting spark that others in the region just don’t. We’ll just never see what it’s like had they been allowed to chart their natural spiritual course.

     I don’t think the yanks in charge of the occupation ever understood just how deeply, deathly serious the japs would take all the new globohomo theology

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Svantovit something relevant bout that. Caution: look into Mishima's hijinks if you feel enamored, times were weird back then.
     
     One gut argument in defense of the manakas: they can draw male faces. Been coming back to manga thanks to that, illustrators across the board from gooks to west (and even jp I would guess at this point) can draw muscles and gear but the faces they are drawing make 00's bishonen look like rugged frontier men.
     Read a manga? Even shonen, the mine genre for fujoshi, has a better chance in male character design.
