   and high quality UI people are specially expensive. I think a lot of issues with FOSS would be fixed if more people donated to what they use 😔

     i think it could improve stuff, perhaps not in all the directions, but for a lot of people donations could mean they could be more motivated to work on foss stuff, for some it might even mean being able to live off of working on foss. I know it's anything but a dream, though.

     I wonder if foss would benefit from a patreon/kickstarter-like kind of thing. Certain goals are reached and x y and z are worked on, etc

     @mischievoustomato @Arcana @Moon this might work. It’s a really hard problem. Probably the best way is to just have a regular company that does FOSS, but that comes with its own issues (like matrix being 100% dependent on state/military money)

     indeed. it's a hard problem to tackle, and as things keep progressing I don't know if FOSS will grow/improve fast enough
