See a text message alert on my phone from across the room I’m happy smile go pick it up it the Red Cross wanting my blood. The reason people contact me is too get something…. I am sad
-
@GabeLakmann @Jean_Philippe_Micheaux Actually, the salaries for nurses have increased a lot, issues are that no one wants to be a nurse, and a lot of the workforce are quitting after covid
-
I've often wondered if the people who care end up not making in the long run due to getting burned out on seeing bad stuff.
You'd think there'd be some way to compartmentalize it in your head though and provide a patient with quality care and also not get too sad if they don't make it because it just wasn't meant to be.
I really hate people who do it just for the money. I understand that it is a good bonus and making good money helps with the costs of medical school and such but if you look at it any way other than that I think it is scummy.
-
@GabeLakmann @Jean_Philippe_Micheaux Think at first a lot of people join the profession in earnest, but often the workload is far too demanding. That and a good number of people in medicine are in because of family expectations now; Indians, Pinoys, and Asians.
You somewhat need to be heartless to care for patients who are being increasingly more combative. Was told that a lot of nurses need to get comfortable with just carrying and tossing patients like luggage to be quick as possible.
-
I've seen the immigrants who were pushed into it by their family pressures and they did not make for good students usually.
I respect them wanting to better themselves but the Asian parents (indians and pinoys a lot of the time have no business even trying and their culture is super dishonest anyways which leads to other bad outcomes) should tell their children to pick what they want and be the best at it instead of pushing them into fields that they'll only be mediocre at due to lack of passion.
The second part worries me and I sorta understand it but they need to hire more nurses instead of trying to run lean staffing wise to save money. They make MORE than enough money as it is and the scumbag hospital administrators make more money than even doctors do when they should make less than nurses due to the fact that their services are of lesser value.
-
There is really no excuse for hurting you like that then. Stuff like this is why people are afraid to go to the hospital and such, especially children.
Covid damn sure didn't help and neither did the opiate epidemic.
I'd really like to see some more honest doctors and healthcare workers out there because if they don't change things soon people are going to trust them even less.

@GabeLakmann @Jean_Philippe_Micheaux With some familial background in medicine, the practice itself is toxic and uncaring.
Everyone is in it for the money, good care be damned, and even most nurses, talking about RN and BSN, they need to be uncaring and robotic to do their jobs.
-
@GabeLakmann @Jean_Philippe_Micheaux Yeah, i was also quite pale at the time
-
@GabeLakmann @Jean_Philippe_Micheaux My veins were really obvious too at the time
-
That makes it even worse.
First IV I ever gave was to a colored and I got it first try. You couldn't see his veins and he was so shaky afterwards that when it was his turn to stick me I didn't let him try. Him being so scared made his veins even harder to find.
-
@GabeLakmann @Jean_Philippe_Micheaux They fucking never call me, and they bruised my arm pretty good during my first donation
-
I've never donated blood because I don't like needles much but you'd think they could hit a vein first time without drama as much as they do it.
I've given IVs several times and got it right the first time every time because I know there are others like me who don't like needles and don't want to be stuck more than once.
-
I've been telling people all this time that it is a front for vampires and them sending you a message this late at night only proves my point even more.
-
I didn't know that, for a while it was popular to become a RN due to the time/money spent in college vs pay ratio being very good.
If they made changes they could probably get many of the nurses to come back and them quitting only increases the workload on the nurses left.
Forcing the vaccine on people was the absolute worst thing they could have done in that situation.
