I think I'm finally done with all the sidequests and other shit for now. Time to advance past Satorl. Took me long enough :kek_pain:

@locagainstwall >he didnt just skip all the sidequests that weren't timed

@Ace66062 My autism won't let me proceed with the main quest unless I do everything else first :zt_shrug: And this way I can make use of all the quest rewards right away, plus I am always afraid of progressing too far and locking myself out of shit
-
@locagainstwall @Ace66062 I love how Xenoblade actually rewards you with EXP for doing quests and finding landmarks, meaning that you'll never have to grind if you just explore and do quests. It *could* be a problem in the Wii original, making you overleveled just due to being a completionist, but in later games they store away excess EXP and let you choose when to make use of it, and Xenoblade DE straight up lefts you *level down* if you feel the game is getting too easy.
-
@ChristiJunior @Ace66062 Yep, I really like the level down feature because I'm the type who often grinds way too much in JRPGs. Sure, being strong is always nice but if you overdo it it stops being a challenge at some point and the whole game becomes less fun. More games need this feature
-
@locagainstwall @Ace66062 Maddeningly, Xenoblade 3 made the level-down feature post game-only, which is the kind of retarded, arbitrary restriction that I suspect Nintendo specifically encouraged them to implement. That said, thanks to having an actual Hard Mode, Xenoblade 3 was a good challenge throughout most of my playthrough.
-
@ChristiJunior @Ace66062 :tanya_sigh: I'm assuming this means hard mode is available right away then?
-
@Ace66062 Again, it's my autism. I know about timed quests but yeah, the fear is still there. But even disregarding that, I just wanna do everything else first. That's just how I play.
-
@locagainstwall >plus I am always afraid of progressing too far and locking myself out of shit
That only happens with the timed quests I mentioned (indicated with a clock). Even when I skipped normal side-quests I was still slightly overleveled and wasn't under-geared but you do you I guess :02_shrug:
-
@locagainstwall @Ace66062 It is, no worries there.
-
@ChristiJunior @Ace66062 At least that's something then. I would have picked hard mode in 1 as well if it was available
-
@locagainstwall Yeah I don't blame you, my autism demands I do every side-quest I can in JRPGs but the sheer number of them in this game and most of it just being kill X amount of Y or go to point A to B just struck into my head "MMO chores" and realized they're just time wasters.
-
@Ace66062 There really were a shit ton of side quests, and yes, a lot of them quite uninspiring, but idk. It takes a while until I truly get bored of something I guess :kekw:
-
@Ace66062 @locagainstwall Those types of quests basically exist just to make ordinary exploration more enjoyable - if you're going around exploring, killing enemies and picking up loot regardless, getting rewarded for it with completed quests is a nice bonus.
-
@ChristiJunior @locagainstwall By the time you can even accept the quests you've already taken in the sights of half the map (since they don't appear until you reach the settlement of the area). I prefer exploring myself and the side-quests don't encourage exploration save for the ones that lead you to secret areas that were timed quests if I recall correctly anyway.

@locagainstwall what a funny looking helmet surely there is nothing dumbfounding behind it
-
@Ace66062 Yeah... no idea who could be behind that helmet :gun_think:
