I've been testing yggdrasil after seeing you recommending it a few times and it's pretty nice.
The community is offering a lot of services on it and it seems to be like a central network connecting the various meshnets (i2p, tor, etc).
Even though it can be used to setup a private network I think it'd be easier and more robust to do so with wireguard. I took a look at the source and since that's what yggdrasil is using to make the links you might as well run it directly.
If anyone is looking for a starting point regarding tunneling, circumventing firewalls and NATs, being always connectable, etc it is an excellent starting point mostly because of its very active community.

@Re_L With Wireguard you'd need at least one machine with uncucked IP, Yggdrasil with its public peers takes care of that.

Well yeah but then your network is not exactly private since it will be routable by everyone else in yggdrasil.
