>comparing fumos to f*nko pops :cocogun_anim:
-
@creamqueen they're just fabric funko pops except even more laden with irony. at least with a funko pop you know someone's a fan of whatever the plastic abomination is representing, but most fumo owners barely know what touhou is. it's a meme hobby.
-
@bleedingphoenix @creamqueen one of these is a cute, soft, well-crafted plushie made lovingly by Touhou fans going back to doujin events that unfortunately secondaries/tertiaries have latched onto.
The other is a soulless, beady-eyed, cheaply made vinyl tchotchke designed to capitalize on whatever western garbage there is. They are not the same. :rebeccagun:

@Tadano @creamqueen i am not wrong. they serve functionally the same purpose. i think they're less offensive than a funko, but they are of the same breed.

@bleedingphoenix @Tadano @creamqueen nigger
-
@Tadano @creamqueen they're equally soulless, they are a product that discards aesthetic value for brand recognition. they are only worth something to whoever gets the reference.
it's not like touhou doesn't have actual figures you can buy that have intrinsic beauty to them.

@creamqueen fumos are cute and soft and I'm quite fond of them
-
@bleedingphoenix @Tadano @creamqueen Also I would like to point out that fumos are much nicer to hug than funko pops
-
@poopernova @Tadano @bleedingphoenix cool man but I'm a grown man I don't need to hug stuffed animals I've got a gondola and a homunculus loxodontus in the back of my car and a crab on my dashboard
-
@creamqueen @Tadano @bleedingphoenix I am very likely mentally ill and just think they're cute
-
@SuperSnekFriend @Tadano @creamqueen it's true. let me give a poignant example.
this is a figure i own. bought it a few years ago for about $40, it's based off the 2008 movie. it has full articulation of joints, replaceable hands, attacheable particle effects, and a nice-looking case that closes magnetically. even though i don't watch those movies anymore, i still have this sitting on my bookshelf because it's a genuinely well-done figure that's fun to pose. it's outlived my enthusiasm for the movies because of its inherent quality.
are fumos going to have that same effect? or are they going to go the way of the funko in five, ten years?
-
@bleedingphoenix @Tadano @creamqueen @SuperSnekFriend I sure do hope that fumos get more unpopular, and that scalpers and normal niggers can fuck off while I enjoy soft 2hu plushies
-
@bleedingphoenix @Tadano @creamqueen >are fumos going to have that same effect?
Yes:
1. Fumos are well made, well-stitched, using good fabric.
2. Fumo plushies are not based on goyslop media, but usually on the beloved otaku-friendly STG franchise, sometimes on Vocaloids
3. Patchouli is my waifu, and even if I marry a real girl, she's going be like Patchouli and I can give my Pache fumo to my daughteru.
4. I'm not a filthy tertiary nor a baka secondary.
