@arstechnica As much as I would like to stick it to big automakers, you have to clarify that the cars don't share these text messages with anyone. It is just a local cache of messages to display on your screen.
@arstechnica I'm a little confused by this even being a thing. You have to explicitly grand access and permission for them to do this. (Well, at least on Android, but surely Apple also has such a basic thing?) Meaning people wanted them to or at least answered that they did when asked.
There are a lot of things they are doing these days that definitely are privacy violations. Showing texts on screen after the user granted permission to do so is not one of them.
@arstechnica newfound respect for the Spotify Thing. it was basically a touchscreen that had one purpose: To play music in your car. No smartphone necessary.
