     Biscuits are kind of like dowels but flat and wide so they have more surface area. They are used to help strengthen and align joints. I only really use them when I don't have a way to use a stronger joint than a butt joint and I'm dealing with a longer piece. Once I join these 2 pieces on the long end they will be ready to create a flat surface and finish as a single piece. Hopefully the seam will be kind of camoflaged in the grain and the biscuits will help add strength to the glue.

     @Flick one of my favorite things about using them is that the tool makes it much easier to get the joint completely flush on the top.
