Just as fascinating is comparing them the ones who clearly have anticipated it coming to an end. It's what I imagine it would feel like watching what happened to the guys who struck gold in 1849.

Some take the gold and open hotels and saloons. Run for office. Build things with the money. Others got giddy with the gold and spent it on whores, booze, and gambling thinking they'd always be able to find more gold at that same stream or mine.
