   I'm trying out Arc to see what all the fuzz is about. So far, I really like it! Feels like the first browser to actually innovate on existing UI patterns.

   And the "boost" thing (integrated custom CSS/JS) emphasizes user control, a core feature of the web.

     @mxbck @chriscoyier My fear has been for a while that developers perceive the war to be lost. It’s not, because Mozilla is still alive, and important products run on its engine, and it has decent usage. But it is in the interests of the big players to have us believe the war is lost. We can do more to keep the conversation alive.

     @charlesroper @chriscoyier good point, but I feel the browser engine war is pretty much lost at this point. Engines have become so huge and complex that it's basically impossible for any "normal" organization to compete with chromium. Sad, yes. But at least the UI is one frontier that's still open.

     @mxbck @chriscoyier But why aren’t more people talking about how it’s “just” another Chromium? That worrying fact seems to be absent from most discussion or a minimal side note, at best? Have we given up on any hope of engine diversity and handed the game to Google? Does it matter in 2023?

     Praise of Arc’s UI may be justified, but it is also a welcome opportunity to talk about engine diversity, surely?
