Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season - Kanketsu-hen Kouhen ends
Series end
5/5
-
The final episode is out? 👀 geez it took forever
-
@kroner yup, it's out
-
@Arkana @SuperSnekFriend didn't finish the manga, but there's nothing wrong with that ending
-
@coolboymew Did they end with the that utter garbage manga ending?
-
@SuperSnekFriend @coolboymew Yeah it's the same ending I think
-
@Arkana @SuperSnekFriend
It's time @noyoushutthefuckupdad
-
@jimmybuffettfanaccount @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @coolboymew Honestly, the ending (and ESPECIALLY the extra pages Isayama later added) thoroughly vindicates Floch :flochforster_smug:, so that's not really the issue for me - a Genocide ending could have been Cringe, while an Alliance Victory could have been Based, it all depended on the execution and how the aftermath was portrayed.
What we *did* get was an incredibly poorly written mess that was literally the worst of all worlds. It was the storytelling and characterization that pissed me off, not cuckery.
-
@ChristiJunior @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount I have no idea what you guys are specifically talking about, but Paradis getting bombed to shit was clearly hundreds, if not thousands of years later
-
@Arkana @coolboymew All that time and they didn't give the decency of telling off Hajime Isayama and giving the fans what they desperately wanted? Yeah, nah!
-
@SuperSnekFriend @Arkana @coolboymew If you believe the theory that isayama really wanted to do Aryan victory ending and the editors and corporate heads demanded jewish victory ending instead then there was never any hope of the anime changing it because anime production is even more corporate and internationalist infiltrated than manga is.
-
@ChristiJunior @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount that looks pretty futuristic to me
-
@coolboymew @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount Not in the manga, I was on AoT groups at the time, everyone agreed that was 100 years into the future, tops. The AoT current story was basically taking place around some alternate history WW1, and the planes bombing paradise were modern ones, but not sci-fi spaceships or anything.
-
@ChristiJunior @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount in the end it's not really a lesson about anything current going on at the end of the series but the mangaka's obvious message of "war is bad" and the humanity loop rather than any specific failure of paradis and co, made even more obvious by the boy finding the Yggdrasil tree at the very end
-
@coolboymew @ChristiJunior @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend Thats seems like a change to make the lesson less nationalistic and more nihilistic, instead of it being clear that it’s a result of the other races‘ spiteful vengeance it’s more of a “cycles of history, everything is destroyed eventually maaaan”. Very gay.
-
@jimmybuffettfanaccount @ChristiJunior @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend In case this is new
>it’s more of a “cycles of history
This was always the case
>everything is destroyed eventually maaaan
No, it's just the endless loop of humanity, war, etc
-
@coolboymew @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount Wow, they straight to changed that in the anime then, to make Eren look like less of a retarded failure. Another copout by the looks of it, but I'll watch the episode before make a final judgement on how it all comes together from the perspective of an anime-only.
Realistically tho, Paradise surviving even 100 years after how things went down was something of a stretch, so this retcon feels forced af.
-
@coolboymew @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount That first image almost looks copied from Nier: Automata.
-
@ChristiJunior @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount IMO the fix was because people misunderstood hard. "The endless humanity cycle" is 100% what was always intended but might've accidentally fucked it up by not showing it deep enough in the future
-
@coolboymew @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount This is what it looked like in the manga btw:

@coolboymew @Arkana @SuperSnekFriend @jimmybuffettfanaccount I'll hopefully watch the episode tomorrow and be able to go over it in detail. If it's anything like in the manga, I'll have A LOT to say about how it fails hard - though it might at least be slightly less schizophrenic than the manga ending, which in terms of tone and lessons genuinely seemed to have been written by several different writers.
