Lutris and GoL are touted as easy solutions for newbie Linux gamers but they do nothing but complicate and abstract something that should be easy.
Wanna set up a custom wine prefix? Open up a terminal and type in:
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_custom winecfg
for your first run. Do:
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_custom winetricks
to install corefonts, dotnet etc
When you want to play a game using that prefix, just do this:
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_custom wine /path/to/game.exe
