     @BowsacNoodle yeah it was a 2x12 and I was trying to keep it as wide as I could which meant sacrificing the full cup on both sides. I could have ripped it and planed those ripped pieces down to a thicker final dimension but honestly it would probably look like more like a 2x than a shelf.
     
     I dumped 10 gallons of shavings on the floor of the doghouse because the chickens scratched out all the straw, and I bagged up a bunch for animal bedding later. I also dumped a bunch around the coop.
