@TinyHouse4Life yeah it's amazing what a little planing and sanding can do. I coated it in coconut oil to protect it. When I made them I gave my uncles a bottle of almond oil to use after cleaning but I don't think I've done any of the recommended maintenance on mine haha.
What is this wood butter? I'm not familiar but I have plenty of wood in the kitchen that could probably benefit
@thatguyoverthere You did agreat job on cleaning it up. Wood butter is a conditioner for the wooden utensils and cutting boards. It was easy to make, only 2 ingredients. I'm making this as part of Christmas gifts and did a trial run a couple of months ago. I keep it on the kitchen counter and it has been handy having it nearby. It helps me stay vigilant about keeping everything coated properly https://creative-culinary.com/wood-butter/#wprm-recipe-container-56734
@TinyHouse4Life thanks I will give this a go. I don't think I have any mineral oil on hand, but I have plenty of beeswax. You could probably even cut the wax with coconut or another cooking oil although that might affect shelf life.
@thatguyoverthere Yes I suspect any oil would be okay to use. I like the mineral oil. It's nice and creamy with the wax and it doesn't have to be reapplied after every washing.
