@rainignterror1080p I'll definitely be careful. Even though I might like them, I don't play any gachas other than FGO. Inmo they just take too much time to play and I have a feeling that Blue Archive would be a real timesink. -

@heavens_feel @William_The_Dragonborn It's sad because no matter how much crying there would be from the usual crowd, it would not matter because we can see how successful these gachas are. And maybe by seeing that success, other devs and publishers would grow a spine again and put more daring character designs in their games.
But unfortunately the gacha model is just too lucrative. Why put effort into every part of the game when you can just put effort into characters and use those to make money all the money :shrug: -

@hakui @rlier23 @William_The_Dragonborn @locagainstwall I can't speak for the others but a lot of work went into FGO's story. Many users liked the plot and structure of Lostbelt 06, for example. That said, there are plenty of fluff events in the game so it's not 100% compelling from start to finish. -

That's a retarded angle for this argument and you know it. I'm "butthurt" because it's all wasted on gacha cancer. It's not about preferences, it's about the cancerous model of gacha. Microtransactions, all the time gated content, always online, and an eventual EOS. And that's without going into lack of proper gameplay. If that's what you want more of then you get what you deserve. "but the characters look good compared to modern games, do you want more ugly modern games instead??" No, but I want proper games. The characters would still look good in an actual game, and again, maybe the modern gaming landscape wouldn't look nearly as ugly.Heavens Feel likes this. -

Microtransactions are just one part of it as I said in my previous post. Always online, time gated content, an eventual EOS making sure all the time you put into it just goes up in smoke and you can't play it again.

Idk how you can praise gachas for having good stories but "personally dont see what's so great about VNs". That's exactly what, the stories, so if that's what you're playing gachas for then by that logic you should be all over VNs. They're the same but without all the cons -

The problem with threads like this is usually people bring up that things need to be "good" for any of them to be meaningful. It's not that complicated, they don't.
A lot of the wokeshit has a lot of effort and money put into it. The general public won't care about the quality of it which is why people buy trash every new game release and call it trash. When western games were at their "peak" they were willing to be edgy and show content they wanted to.
Gacha isn't just popular because there's gamblers and people who like tits. Plenty of games have gambling and tits in them and they don't get as big as Nikke or Blue Archive or FGO. These games get popular because they hit the attention of audiences for some reason. I can tell you that there are massive sections of these fanbases that don't care about the games they play and want to roll and flex their accounts. "Facebook whales" are a real thing.
If people actually cared about "quality" here on fedi they be telling me of the great game they didn't pirate constantly. But the supposed "bad games" are the ones getting the most attention. :back_from_gab: -
