@kekkerel@thatguyoverthere I don't even have a guard on my table saw. I know that is rather unwise, but I have a custom made sled which slides, rather than pushing the piece, and I couldn't put the guard on it without interfering with the sled mobility.
@niclas@kekkerel yeah saw stop is cool but I've found if you don't do the dumb usually your fingers stay away from the blade and on your hand. At least for me so far haha
@niclas@kekkerel tbh I just think the safety mechanism is probably good for people with little experience, but it's hard to justify the extra cost without getting more power or more accurate cuts if you know what to expect from your equipment already. I may be on the market for a new table saw eventually, but when I do get one, I want a larger rip space and more powerful motor to make getting through hardwoods a bit smoother more than a saw that won't cut me.
@niclas@kekkerel if saw stop came out with some kind of mod you could attach to all saws or something I think it would be more interesting to me personally. It's not that I have no regards for safety, but it's really not that much better than something you'd take to a job site outside of potentially being smarter than the operator and costs 2-3x as much.
@kekkerel@niclas also if I ever do cut off a finger, I think I will probably be lamenting some stupid thing I was doing to save time rather than the fact I didn't have the right brand saw.
