For 10+ years I've survived without Microsoft and Apple. Now it's time to de-Google and de-Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) my life and head for the hills
I also recommend Pale Moon for an independent browser (fork of the old Furryfox before it became Rust), or Netsurf for an entirely independent browser made from scratch, but it has no extensions.
The clearnet is so fucking broken, extensions are needed as a bandage.
Especially uMatrix, uBlock Origin, Block Cuckflare MitM Attack, Decentraleyes, LibRedirect, Stylus, Vim Vixen, and FoxyProxy.
FoxyProxy to use VPN, Tor, and I2P alongside "nothing to hide" proxy-less browsing.
uBlock Origin for blocking ads, cookie popups, and all the other annoyances.
uMatrix for very precise blocking of trackers and other kinds of spyware (advised is to block everything coming from 3rd party resources, and only allow CSS and images from 1st party by default).
Block Cloudflare MitM Attack for further spyware prevention.
Decentraleyes to run some CDN'd soyware locally, though I'd rather not do that personally.
Stylus to fix ugly white background and black letters webdesoygn.
LibRedirect to browse big tech and alt tech cruft via a condom.
And Vim Vixen to browse the web using just your keyboard.
That's an easy yes. Brave is spyware, and that should have been easily assumed by absolutely everyone from the fact that they were seeing ads for it. If you see ads for something, it's a scam, guaranteed.
The best thing about LibreWolf is that it has strong defaults. Keep in mind that it doesn't keep history by default, though, you have to enable that.
