     @thor What's wrong with soft fries though? Why do you want your fries to have a "snap" to them?
     
     If you wanted something with a snap you could've gotten potato chips. Potato chips are superior to crispy french fries, you can dip them in stuff more easily.

     @ceo_of_monoeye_dating they're potatoes that have been fried too much yet are still mushy and lack a nice thick crust with a nice snap to them, as opposed to proper french fries

     in other words: making good french fries at home from scratch is too much effort, which is why it's typically only people who get paid for the job that bother to do it
