     @arstechnica This is my kind of EV! Whether the system is real or not, I miss driving stick so much. Paddle shifters behind the wheel are nowhere near the same, but this sounds like a lot of fun to drive!

     Every car I’ve owned has had a manual transmission, and I’ve had this idea about putting in a “fake” shifter and clutch in an EV myself.

     It’s very silly, but I’m glad some companies are toying with the idea because, quite frankly, driving a manual IS more fun.

     It screams climate crisis denial and climate inactivism on Toyota’s part. They’re so set in their old fossil ways they believe, or insist that?, their customers are too, and there’s fear to change from the comfort of the polluting, mecganical past. So they waste money and time on gimmicks like this instead of trying to beat Tesla to market with a ~$25K EV, which imho should be their priority.

     @arstechnica this is very silly. Deliberately retarding the torque of an EV to match the weak low and high end torque of an ICE is not ‘sporty’, it is the literal reverse.
