@a7 replaying entire levels because of a momentary mistake just isn't fun. In every other aspect of gameplay instadeath is generally regarded as something you don't do.
This comes from playing doom 2016 btw where the platforming is cancer and instadeath

@RustyCrab @a7 Instadeath is fine if you aren't forced to sit through minutes of game over and loading screens. Hotline Miami did it right.

@mint @a7 yeah it's not the death itself it's the forced segment replay which is just drudgery.

Yeah, going through a couple of loading screens and potentially a level transition puts off people when it comes to instadeath. The hotline miami method is golden because you get to rush back into the action without delay
