     @coolboymew Found it! It's "gai", meaning a street corner or district. So Fern is saying that the whole district can see them (her booba), essentially.

     That's the difference between 町 and 街? I keep learning new things. Would have been nice if Japanese-English dictionaries included that small detail.

     @teknomunk @Tsuki @moth_ball Without even looking, pretty sure that 町 is an actual town and 街 is more like a district, street, etc. Basically, think of "Chinatown". This makes sense if you look at the title denki gai no honya-san (The Electric Town's Bookstore), electric town being akihabara

     I think you are definitely correct when it's used as a suffix like denki gai or golden gai. I've only seen 街 read the same as 町 a few times though so I could also be wrong.

     だよね～ I saw 少女 written as 小女 the other day to emphasize that it was a small girl. That one threw me for a bit.

     It was in a touhou fanart comic. Sometimes authors will write words with different kanji and furigana than what you would expect to give it some extra nuance or a double meaning. I think it's called 当て字.

     I've seen that a lot, especially in music lyrics and manga, where there is a Japanese term for something then the reading is some English or some such that is what is actually spoken. Rather nifty, to be honest.
