Remember when white-soled boat shoe "sperry" loafers were the shit? (look at their feet) And how 'bout them "monitors"?
This would have been mid-80s, say 1987ish.

@georgeharito lol!
@amigalove “Sir, my monitor isn’t showing any picture”
“Change it to channel 3”
@thomasfuchs I would've thought that, too, but maybe this school just was strapped for $. I'll see if I can find the original source again but that's what the guy said. And those TVs!
@amigalove Atari 800s? I think this is much likely earlier. I’d say maybe early 80s.
@thomasfuchs That being said there does seem to be a handful of monitors on the back wall but I can't identify them.
@hftouhf Nah man, we liked our shoes nice and ripe. (phew!)
@amigalove Razor cut deck shoes, I thought this was in Scandinavia but they're not wearing socks.
USA
@amigalove Oh, where are you then? My Norwegian gf at the time wore them and just called the "decks" but she lived in England at the time :)
@amigalove I do not actually remember those shoes — maybe an east coast phenom?, but I do remember seeing Atari 800’s in the 80’s. This might be an official Atari computer camp in the early 1980’s. It can’t possibly be as late as 1987.
@amigalove @thomasfuchs No way this is that late. I bet it’s no later than 1983. Also, it looks like it might be a TRS-80 monitor in the back wall towards the left.
@amigalove @thomasfuchs Atari 800’s weren’t cheap in their day, and these all have disk drives and relatively large color TVs. The kids are well dressed. This is an affluent school in the early 80’s
1985. That wasn't the point of my post at all but here's the date.
@amigalove I still wear Sperry loafers. But my monitors have come a long way since then.
@johnlogic the photo was actually taken in 1985 in Miami, Florida.
It looks like Sperry was bought in 1979. I think the new owner popularized the Top-Sider shoes.
The #Atari800 came out that year, and was replaced by the 1200XL in 1983.
I'd guess the picture was from about 1982.
