     @thatguyoverthere At least (I’m guessing) you’re allowed to own your own tank. Here, you have to rent it from the company.

     @Flick I think I *can* own my own, but I do not. There is also an equipment rental fee, but it's annual and not included in this which was just for a refill. I think safety procedures is one of those things that really is just as much for them as it is for me lol. I just got a 10 gallon refill and it cost almost a hundred bucks because of all the fees. Current propane cost is $6 so nearly half of my bill is fees.

     @thatguyoverthere I don’t actually know off the top of my head what UK prices are, but I feel confident in saying “lol, is that all?”.

     (That said, unless I cocked up the maths, I’m paying less for heating oil — £0.73/L — than the current US price, which surprises me. I guess they’re not (yet) taxing heating as badly as petrol/diesel.)
