@ageha @lain this is something to think about I guess, I have heard a variety of horror stories about traveling by city bus, not just racism (not minimizing the racism here) I know multiple people have also told me about mentally ill people, women getting sexually harassed.
-
@Moon @ageha you have mentally ill people and harassment in german public transport too. It's not a 'human constant' (you don't have it in japan or korea), but at least the US is not exceptional here.
-
isn't train-based sexual harassment like japan's national passtime?
-
@mu @Moon @ageha i think they just see it as an actual issue that needs solving. there's sekuhara on berlin trains all the time, but 'female only' cabins aren't coming anytime soon.
-
@Moon @mu @ageha no idea, sounds like something the EU would do but i also don't think that people are demanding it.
-
@lain @mu @ageha aren't women only cabins illegal under EU law? I think they have them in the Netherlands but
-
@piggo @Moon @mu @ageha ... they aren't there for bad drivers, they are there to be closer to populated areas so you don't get raped...
-
@lain @mu @ageha oh wait, I think we were in the Netherlands and they had women only PARKING SPOTS and someone said they were probably illegal but nobody had formally complained.
-
@Moon @lain @mu @ageha saw some in germany but they weren't even 2x wider or anything and our driver chose to park elsewhere bc it felt insulting lol
-
@piggo @Moon @mu @ageha there are 'family' or 'mother and child' parking spots which are indeed wider and meant to be for families because it's easier to get your kid in and out of the car, but the 'women' parking spaces are just there to make the ways shorter.
-
@lain @Moon @mu @ageha ok that sounds slightly insane but I never walked through a large parking lot at a gas station at night
