I got two new identical monitors, and plugged them both into the same laptop.
one is running at 75hz and the other at 60hz.
The only difference is that one is using an HDMI to HDMI cable, and the other is using display-port to HDMI

  I have reconnected them on a different day, using the same cables
  they're now both at 75hz
