I wonder if anyone has ever made a key lock where it turns on any key, but provides a value back to the connected computer to tell you the bitting of the key

@foone seems like an extremely overengineered solution compared to just using a stamped piece of sheet metal with notches on it

@foone could be done.... though I'm wondering how you'd handle mechanical registration/alignment with different keyways.
