   medics of the fediverse, are allergies something one is born with? As in ever since you're born you have determined allergies.
   
   Or are allergies something one can develop while growing up or even as adults??

     @ryuuji@varishangout.net Both. Some of it is genetic, some of it can be environmental or exposure based. Source: lifelong allergy sufferer. I wasn't allergic to cats as a kid, but I'm deathly allergic to them now for example.

     @ryuuji I never had a problem with pollen as a kid.
     Now it makes me stuffy.
     It's mild but it only started when I was like 25.
     
     You can become allergic to things over time with enough exposure, like roaches.
